We toured the Barclay clan lands with the Tom of Clans and Castles and he made our trip the experience of a lifetime. We spent about 5 weeks touring various areas of Europe, but it is our time with Clans and Castles that remains our favorite experience. Tom was a marvelous guide and we covered a lot of ground going from one interesting or spectacular site to the next. Castles, ruins, stone circles, medieval churches, Pictish iconography, Whisky, even a cashmere mill. Every day was fantastically diverse, fascinating and over much too quickly. Tom knows his history and provided background to each stop that made the sites come alive. Our nights were spent in everything from a slightly haunted 1700’s inn with a spectacular restaurant, to our final night in the elegant splendor of a suite in a real castle. Clans and Castles also negotiated a tour of Towie Barclay castle, which is privately owned for us. This was a real privilege and a definite highlight. After 3 years of planning and cancellations due to the pandemic - which Clans and Castles weathered with stoic grace and partience - we had built up extremely high expectations for this tour.. C&C met that level, and then proceeded to knock it out of the park. To borrow a Tom word, it was all just brilliant!
